A WordPress consultant should be able to do more than point at problems in a report. I have built and maintained WordPress sites myself since 2010, and the advice rests on the practical experience of 400+ projects: what lasts and what gets expensive. - You have three agency proposals that are hard to compare because they describe different things.
- A choice must be made between rebuilding and repairing, and nobody internally has the grounds.
- An agency is on its way out and a proper handover is needed.
- The site needs to scale to more languages or brands and the structure will not hold.
- A second opinion is needed on a technical recommendation before anything gets signed.
What the advice consists of
A written assessment of a few pages, written so a non-technical director can read it. No eighty-page appendix of tool screenshots.
I read the actual code instead of judging the site from the outside. That is where the difference lies between an advisor and someone who has had to maintain the result afterwards.
The independence
I have no partner agreements with hosting providers, theme shops or plugin companies, and I receive no commission whatever you choose.
It also means that if the conclusion is you should stay with your current vendor, I write that. It has happened more than once.

We walk through the job
A 20-30 minute call where you describe what needs to be built or repaired. I ask about platform, access and deadline, and tell you honestly if the job sits outside what I am good at.

Review of your code
Small jobs get a price after a short clarification. If a larger existing project needs a technical review first, we agree the price and scope of that review before I open the code.

Written quote with a clear scope
You get a firm agreement on what is included, what is not, and when it will be ready. If the scope changes along the way, we deal with it openly instead of letting it drift.

Delivery in your own setup
I work in your own repository and your own hosting and deliver in pieces you can see and approve. When we are done, you have the code, the access and documentation that makes you independent of me.

- What does a WordPress consultant cost?
- The price depends on the size of the site, the number of integrations and whether proposals or vendors also need reviewing. After a short talk about the task you get a fixed price for the review, and I reply the same day you write.
- What does a WordPress consultant do?
- Assesses sites, architecture and vendor proposals and translates the technical into a basis for decisions. With me it ends in a short written assessment with a recommended order, not a report for the shelf.
- Do you advise companies outside the Copenhagen area?
- Yes, a technical review happens in the code and on the server, so I regularly advise companies in Aarhus, Odense and Aalborg on equal footing with clients in Copenhagen. The presentation happens on video.
- Can you join meetings with our agency?
- Yes, I do that regularly. The conversation usually changes character when someone present can ask the technical follow-up questions.
- How long does a review take?
- A technical review of an ordinary site typically takes two to three days including the written assessment. With a webshop and several integrations it grows a bit.
- Do you also do the work afterwards?
- Only if you want me to. The assessment is written so any competent developer can execute it, and it looks the same regardless of who gets the job.
- What if our vendor will not give access?
- Then that is important information in itself. You can get some way from the outside, but access to code and server is what makes the assessment precise. I am happy to help word the request.
