A WordPress website can be fast, secure and easy to edit if it is built tightly from the start. That is how I have built them since 2010: custom blocks, under ten plugins and an editing interface your editors can figure out. WordPress runs around 40 percent of the web, and the problem is rarely WordPress itself but what people stack on top.

How I build a WordPress website
I start by mapping which section types the site actually needs. Usually seven or eight, not forty. Those become blocks the editors can arrange in any order without being able to build something that looks wrong.
The rest is discipline: images are scaled automatically on upload, fonts are hosted locally, and JavaScript loads only where it is needed. It is not rocket science, it is just what gets skipped when people are in a hurry.

- What does a WordPress website cost?
- The biggest price drivers are the number of section types and templates, whether a design already exists, and whether content needs moving from an old site. Tell me briefly what the site should do, and you get a concrete quote instead of a range, with a same-day reply.
- What is the difference between a WordPress website and a page-builder site?
- Both run on WordPress, but a page builder adds a heavy layer on top that costs speed and locks content into its own format. A theme built from scratch gives the same editing freedom with a fraction of the code.
- Do you make WordPress websites across the country?
- Yes. I sit in Herlev near Copenhagen and regularly build sites for companies in Aarhus, Odense, Aalborg and smaller towns. The whole process can run on video and email if you prefer.
- Is WordPress not insecure?
- The core is solid and updated quickly. Nearly every break-in I have seen came through an outdated plugin or a reused password, and both can be protected against with modest effort.
- Can we create new pages ourselves?
- Yes, that is the whole point of building the blocks properly. You assemble new pages from the existing sections without involving me.
- How long does a WordPress website take?
- Typically four to eight weeks from approved design for a site with ten to fifteen pages. Experience says the waiting usually sits in copy and images, not in the development.
- Can you move us from another system to WordPress?
- Yes. The critical part is the URL structure and redirects, so the Google rankings survive the move. The content itself can nearly always be moved with its structure.
- What about hosting a WordPress website?
- I do not sell hosting, but I gladly recommend and set it up. It is one of those choices where the cheapest option pays off worst, in both speed and security.
