WordPress course

A WordPress course in the installation you work in every day

A WordPress course gives the most when it takes place in your own installation with your own blocks and fields. I have built and maintained WordPress sites since 2010, so I teach in a system I work in every week myself.

What we cover on the course

  • How pages and posts relate on your site, and when to use which.
  • The blocks and fields that exist on your particular site and what they were built for.
  • Images: which sizes belong where, and why it matters for speed.
  • Titles and descriptions in the SEO plugin, and what is worth spending time on.
  • What not to touch, and who to call when something goes wrong anyway.

Who benefits from the course

Editors, marketing owners and communications people who update the site day to day and would like to do it without worrying about breaking something.

It also fits well when new colleagues need onboarding, or when a site has changed hands internally and nobody quite remembers how things were meant to work.

After the course

You receive a short written guide to your specific setup with screenshots from your own site. It is deliberately kept to a few pages, and that is exactly why it gets used.

When new employees join later, they can read the guide instead of needing the whole walkthrough again, and if questions come up after the course, I am just an email away.

What you get

Concrete deliverables, not a report of recommendations someone else has to find time for.

  • A course in your installation

We work in the site you actually have, with the fields, themes and plugins that exist in your setup.

  • A written guide with screenshots

A short manual for your setup that new colleagues can read instead of guessing their way through.

  • A walkthrough of the usual pitfalls

Image sizes, heading structure and the settings that only cause problems six months later.

  • A list of what should be fixed

Something always turns up along the way. You can take the list forward yourselves or hand it to a developer.

How it works

Four steps. You know what happens when, and you can stop after any of them.

  1. 01

    Scoping call

We go over who is attending, what they already know, and what they should be able to do afterwards. From that I propose topics and a programme for the day.

  2. 02

    Your cases are collected

You send two or three tasks the participants genuinely spend time on. I build the exercises around those, so nobody has to translate examples from a foreign industry into their own.

  3. 03

The day itself, at your office

The morning is walkthroughs with short exercises, the afternoon is independent work on your cases while I help at the screens. The pace gets adjusted to the group as we go.

  4. 04

    Follow-up and materials

After the day you get the slides, prompts and a document with the solutions that were built. A follow-up session a few weeks later can be added once the questions from daily use have surfaced.

Frequently asked questions

What does a WordPress course cost?
It depends on the length of the course, the number of participants and how much time I need in your installation beforehand. Tell me briefly about your site and your team, and I will send a concrete quote with a same-day reply.
Who is the course aimed at?
Editors, marketing and communications people who work in WordPress day to day. No technical background is required, and the course suits brand-new users as well as experienced ones who want to shed bad habits.
How long does the course take?
Three to four hours covers the needs of most editorial teams. If WooCommerce is included, we plan a full day, because products and inventory take more time than you would think.
Do you come to us, or is it online?
Both. I run courses at offices in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense, Aalborg and the rest of the country, and over video when that fits better. In person gives the most when everyone needs their hands in the site.
Can you teach on a site you did not build?
Yes, that is the normal case. I familiarise myself with the setup in advance, so the teaching fits your themes, fields and plugins regardless of who made them.
Is WooCommerce part of the course?
If you use it, yes. We then extend to a full day and go through products, variants and inventory in your own shop.
How many can attend?
There is no fixed upper limit, but I recommend smaller groups when everyone is meant to work in the site along the way. If it is mostly for orientation, a larger group is fine.
