What I get asked most
- The theme needs changing in a specific place and the built-in editor cannot do what is needed.
- Two apps write to the same spot on the page and break each other.
- Shipping and pickup rules do not match reality, particularly around parcel shops.
- Conversions get counted twice or not at all in Analytics.
- Product feeds to Google or Meta get rejected for missing fields.
How it works
You write what is misbehaving, ideally with a video if it is visual. I reply with what I think it is and what it will cost. If the job is scoped, I give a fixed price so you do not have to think about hours.
I always work in a duplicated theme first, so the live store is not touched until you have seen the result.
Deliverables
What you get
Concrete deliverables, not a report of recommendations someone else has to find time for.
- A fixed price on scoped jobs
You are told the cost before I start, so you are not thinking about hours along the way.
- Work in a duplicated theme
The live store is not touched until you have seen the result and approved it.
- A short explanation
What was wrong and what I changed. Enough that the next person does not start over.
- No minimum contract
Small jobs are welcome. If something is so small that Shopify's own support is cheaper, I will say so.
Process
How it works
Four steps. You know what happens when, and you can stop after any of them.
- 01
Get on a call
Twenty minutes where you explain what is going wrong and I ask the questions that decide the scope. I say so immediately if the job is not a fit.
- 02
I read the code
Before quoting I spend half a day to a day reading the project. You get an honest assessment of the state of things, including when it is worse than you hoped.
- 03
Fixed price and scope
You get a written quote with what is included, what is not, and when it is done. Not a three-month range you cannot plan around.
- 04
Delivery in your workflow
I work in your git repository and open pull requests that can be reviewed. Everything I touch is documented, so knowledge does not walk out the door with me.

Who does the work
I am the person you will be working with
My name is Mikkel and I have been building for the web since 2010. There is no project manager in between, and you will not get a junior on the job because the senior was busy. What you agree is what gets built, and I am the one building it.
Day to day I am a partner at Bigum&Co, and I have worked on more than 400 projects across ecommerce, pharma, construction and the public sector. Call or write — I usually reply the same day, and I will say straight away if the job is not a fit.

The jobs I most often get
The theme needs changing in a specific place and the built-in editor cannot do what is needed. That is the classic: a field is missing, a section needs to behave differently on mobile, or the order on the product page does not suit the range.
Two apps write to the same spot on the page and break each other. It typically surfaces when one of them updates and something that has worked for a year suddenly does not. The fix is rarely removing one of them, but getting them to stay out of each other's way.
Shipping and pickup rules do not match reality. Particularly around parcel shops, where the customer needs to pick a collection point in checkout, and where the rules for when it should be offered at all are more complicated than they look.
Product feeds to Google or Meta get rejected. Nearly always because a required field is missing or formatted wrongly — GTIN, condition, availability. It is quick to fix once you know where to look.

- You talk to the person coding
No project manager in between, and no junior on the job because the senior was busy. What you agree is what gets built.
Brands I have worked with
A selection. Some freelance, some through agencies, some across several years.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
- Do you have a minimum charge?
- I am happy to take small jobs, but genuinely tiny things are honestly more expensive through me than through Shopify's own support. I will say so if that is the case.
- Do I need to give you store access?
- Yes, a staff account with the permissions the job needs. It can be closed again afterwards, and I do not ask for more access than required.
- Can you help us get started on Shopify?
- Yes. Store setup, product structure, payments, shipping and domain. The setup itself is faster than people expect — it is the product data that takes time.
