AI consultant

An AI consultant who builds the solutions himself and also says no

An AI consultant should be able to do more than make slides. I have been building software since 2010 and build the solutions I advise on myself, so the recommendations come from real projects rather than a report.

Mikkel Tschentscher
  • The most solution-oriented developer

In Mikkel's world there are challenges rather than problems.

  • Competent, precise and a huge support

He is simply a pro. Highly competent and precise, brings good input, and is a huge support.

  • Lightning fast with an eye for detail

Mikkel is a man after my own heart. Executes at lightning speed, has an eye for detail and is always there when you need him. It does not get better than that.

How an engagement works

It usually starts with half a day where I talk to three or four people from different parts of the company. That gives a far better picture than a meeting with management alone, because it is the others who know where the time goes.

Afterwards you get a short memo with what I would do, in which order, and what each item requires. A couple of pages, not eighty.

What I get asked most often

  • Can we use AI in our customer service without quality dropping?
  • How do we get started with document handling when everything sits in PDFs?
  • Which internal tools can be built on top of the systems we have?
  • Should we buy a finished platform or integrate AI into what we already run?
  • What will operations cost once it is no longer a pilot?

On saying no

A share of the ideas I assess are not worth building. Either the volume is missing, or ordinary software solves the task better and cheaper.

You will hear that directly. In the short term it is bad business for me, but it is the only reason the advice is worth anything.

What you get

Concrete deliverables, not a report of recommendations someone else has to find time for.

  • Conversations in-house

Half a day with three or four people from different departments, which gives a different picture than management alone.

  • A prioritised memo

A short list of what I would do, in which order, and what effort each item requires.

  • Proposal review

A review of any vendor proposals: what is actually included, and what gets expensive later.

  • A session for management

A concrete session with examples from your own business rather than general slides about what AI is.

How it works

Four steps. You know what happens when, and you can stop after any of them.

  1. 01

    Pick the process

Together we find the piece of work that repeats often enough for automation to pay off. The more contained the task, the faster the first version reaches production.

  2. 02

    Set a baseline

We record how long the task takes today, how often it occurs, and how many errors slip through. Without those numbers, nobody can tell afterwards whether the solution was worth the effort.

  3. 03

    Build against a test set

I collect real examples from your day-to-day and test every prompt and model change against them. That keeps quality stable when the solution is tuned later on.

  4. 04

Production with logs and a kill switch

The solution is wired into your existing systems with full logging and a switch that can turn it off. I document the setup and train someone on your side to maintain it.

Frequently asked questions

What does an AI consultant do?
Helps decide where AI can pay off in a business, which tools fit, and how to get started without wasting money. With me, the advice ends in a prioritised memo that can be executed by me, your own team or an agency.
What does an AI consultant cost?
It depends on the length and breadth of the engagement. A half-day review with a memo is different from ongoing sparring over several months, and the number of areas to cover matters too. Write what you are dealing with and you will get a reply the same day, with a concrete quote after a short clarification.
Do you also sell the solution afterwards?
Sometimes, if you want that. The memo, though, is written so any competent developer can execute it, and the content is the same regardless of who ends up doing the work.
Do you have experience in our industry?
I have worked across ecommerce, pharma, construction, the public sector and plenty else. The most important knowledge about your industry is yours, though, and my job is translating it into something buildable.
Do you advise companies across Denmark?
Yes. Around Copenhagen I am happy to come to you, while engagements in Aarhus, Odense and Aalborg typically run over video, possibly with a single visit. The quality of the memo does not depend on the commute.
Can you advise on GDPR in connection with AI?
I can clarify the practical side: where data ends up, which vendors offer EU hosting, and how to avoid sending personal data along at all. The legal assessment belongs with a lawyer or your DPO, and I am clear about where my knowledge ends.
Can you present to our management team?
Yes, and I prefer to make it concrete with examples from your own business rather than general slides about what AI is. Most management teams have seen plenty of those.
Can you sit on a steering group?
Yes, I do that for a couple of clients, typically monthly. It works best when I have helped assess the technical basis beforehand.
